I don’t often pledge money to Kickstarter, because I don’t have unlimited funds, but I love the idea of Kickstarter, and the few I’ve backed have been well worth it – excellent production values, timely delivery, cool extras, that sort of thing. Last year I found out about the Kickstarter for Broken Frontier (which I reviewed here!), and now one of the mad geniuses behind that anthology, Tyler Chin-Tanner, is putting together another one called Loved & Lost. Love stories are awesome, you guys!
Here’s the link to the Kickstarter. It’s a short one, so it ends next week. Chin-Tanner writes all the stories and edits it with his awesome wife, Wendy (whom I’ve still never met, but whose Facebook feed is amazing), and all the stories are about navigating modern romance, and according to Chin-Tanner, they’re not stories about the extremes of love, but the messy, complicated stuff in the middle. Which sounds terrific to me, because I love me some complicated love stories!
There are nine stories in the volume, and they’re pretty much done – the Kickstarter is to finish it and get it printed. The artist line-up looks like this: Ryan Alexander-Tanner, James Boyle, Mac Cooper, Jason Copland, Tadd Galusha, Julia Krase, Jeannette Langmead, Robert Ryan, and Aysegül Sınav. I’m not familiar with all of the artists, but the ones I am are impressive, and just looking through their web sites, it appears they are all very talented. Here’s some of the artwork from the book:
Some of the rewards are a metallic print of the cover, a signed bookplate, and some mini-prints by various artists paired with verses from love poems. Here’s one example by Karl Slominski:
There’s a week left for the Kickstarter, and they’re about halfway to their goal. It sounds like a really neat book, so if you’re at all interested, go check it out. You’ll be cooler if you do!
