Celebrating the Unpopular Arts

A pretty picture of summer fun

The heat here in NC is harsh enough (or I’m too old) that I don’t find lying around outdoors to be much fun these days. However I can still appreciate a cover that tells me otherwise, like this Nick Cardy image. Despite the title, the stories were almost all reprints from the 1950s

Sorry not to have contributed the past couple of weeks. I do most of my blogging on Fridays — it’s easier than doing a little bit every day — and the past two Fridays have been a holiday, then me traveling (ConGregate in Winston-Salem). So nothing done. Hopefully it’ll be a while before that happens again as I have a lot I want to blog about.

Nice as the cover looks, I’m still waiting for fall.

That’s a great cover by Cardy, he really was an underrated artist and never got the credit he deserved.
I’m with you on the weather Fraser, I avoid the sun as much as possible these days.
It’s been so hot here in the UK over the last month or so, plus I’m the ultimate white boy. I don’t tan, just burn and go red.
A few weeks ago I caught it bad on my face and my nose started peeling skin, no fun when you need to wear specs to read

    1. One thing rereading the Silver Age has given me is greater appreciation for a lot of artists. Cardy, definitely, and Marie Severin.
I’m old enough my doctor strongly recommends sunscreen. I haven’t been out long enough to tan or burn in a long while.
