For Part Four of my 20-Year Retrospective, I finish up with my Comics Should Be Good posts, so it’s pretty long, even for how long these posts have been. I just wanted to get it done before the weekend, so I went for it! First up, I link to the reviews of things that weren’t part of my weekly “What I Bought” posts. Most of them are graphic novels or trade paperbacks, but some are single issues that I received from comics creators, so I decided to put them here rather than the weekly posts. It’s my series, so I can do what I want! After that, I feature the various categories of posts, like the Flippin’ Through Previews posts, Comics You Should Own, and Into the Back Issue Box. With all our fun comments, I tried very hard to find the posts on the Wayback Machine, but alas, occasionally I could not. And, as usual, many images on the Wayback Machine are corrupted, which stinks. Also, around 2015, the Wayback Machine versions are in a bad format that is very hard to read, so I link to the CBR versions when I can. Still, I hope you enjoy these!

Nil: A Land Beyond Belief. (18 April 2005)
Reviews of collected editions. Including a ridiculous deep dive into the early Batman comics. T. takes me to task in the comments! (22 April 2005)

A breakdown of why Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is bad. (7 February 2006) In the comments, our old pal Matter-Eater Lad compares picking Pete Ross as vice-president for Luthor would be like if Donald Trump ran for president in 1996 and picked the guy who was holding Lloyd Bentsen’s seat after Clinton picked Bentsen to be Treasury Secretary. Why, Matter-Eater Lad, did you use Trump in your example?!?!?! You spoke it into existence!!!!

September 2016. This doesn’t exist on the Wayback Machine, as far as I can tell, because it was when the Great and Horrible Changeover occurred, in which we lost all the comments on the old blog. So … no comments for you! (19 September 2016)
COMICS YOU SHOULD OWN
I know I’ve reposted all of these here over the years, but I wanted to link to them for a few reasons. 1, so you can read the comments if you want to, because they’re often fun. 2, to show the dates when I actually posted them, because it’s fascinating to me how long it took me to get to some and how quickly I got to others and how little time I have these days, even though I love doing these (I know what my next one is going to be, but I just can’t find the time to write about it!). Plus, of course, I reposted some of the old ones at CSBG, because I was posting them at a different site for a little bit. These should be fun to see!
300. (22 December 2004) (Here’s the first time I reprinted it, because the movie was coming out. Boy howdy, it got a lot of comments – a lot about the movie – from the people!) (8 March 2007)

Automatic Kafka. This is just a link to the Buzzscope page, which isn’t there anymore, but I posted it because the comments are not bad. (6 June 2005) (I did, however, do a “flashback post” on 2 December 2009, which also had good comments!)
Avengers Annual #10. Just a link (and no comments), but I wanted to note the date. (29 June 2005) (The “flashback” post, which I put up on 21 December 2009, is here.)

Detective Comics #629-633, 638, 643. I assume there was an older version, but I must have missed it. Oh well – some nice comments here! (3 August 2010)
Detective Comics #801-808; 811-814. A very recently completed one, at the time. It still rules! (28 June 2006) Here is the repost 10 August 2010.

INTO THE BACK ISSUE BOX
Some of these comics are so very, very bad!
The explanation! (16 September 2006)
1: The Outsiders #12. (CBR version!) (17 September 2006)
2: Stark: Future #8. Sadly, the images are corrupted and the post didn’t migrate over to CBR, so we can’t see this gloriously terrible comic! (24 September 2006)
3: Superman/Tarzan: Sons of the Jungle #1. Once again, corrupted images and no corresponding CBR link. Grrr. Especially because several commenters – P-TOR and Dan Apodaca most notably – really hate the art (although others, naturally, defend it). (30 September 2006)
4: Power Man and Iron Fist #112. Weird that I didn’t scan any artwork. Maybe my scanner was acting weird. It did that sometimes. (8 October 2006)
5: Eternal Warrior #40. Again, no scans. Sorry! (15 October 2006)
6: Untamed #1. The CBR version has the scans, and you should look at them, because this comic is amazing. It might be my favorite bad comic of all time. (21 October 2006)
7: Egypt #6. The CBR version, with scans, is here. (28 October 2006)
8: Suspira #4. Check out the scans here. (5 November 2006)
9: Green Lantern #138. Sadly, no scans. Sorry! (25 November 2006)

18: Ghost Rider #23. Here are the scans! (17 February 2007)
19: Supreme #51. (25 February 2007)
20: Crimson Dreams #10. The images can be found here! (4 March 2007)
21: The Secret Defenders #9. You can check out the very bad, not good at all art here. I definitely shouldn’t have called Ron Marz a “hack,” thoug. Man, I wrote some stupid things in my “youth,” didn’t I? (10 March 2007)
22: Demonslayer volume 2 #2. The horror! The horror! (17 March 2007)
23: Cable #40. You can see the scans here. (24 March 2007)

Finally, in two years, you might recall, I did daily posts. In 2012 I looked at the first (and, in December, the last) pages of issues, while in 2014, I examined the artistic development of a bunch of artists. I’m not going to link to each post, because I’m not that insane, but I will link to the archives I compiled. For 2012, here is the archive, and the CBR version is here.
For 2014, here is the archive, while the CBR version is here.
For both of these, I have no idea if the links still work. The CBR versions, I suspect, lead to a lot of dead links, but I thought I’d include them for completeness’ sake. I think you can get to all of them through the Wayback Machine links, but the images are almost all corrupted, which is no fun when you’re dealing with posts that are almost exclusively about art. However, the comments are pretty fun, if you want to indulge in some nostalgia!
Phew, right? As I have mentioned quite often here, I really enjoy blogging and I wish I had more time to do it. I know we don’t have the giant readership that Comics Should Be Good had, and I know we don’t have a posting machine like Our Former Dread Lord and Master, and I know we don’t post as often as we would like, but I, for myself, very much appreciate our readership. I’ve been doing this for 20 years now, and while I’m slower than I used to be and don’t have as much time as I used to, I have no plans to stop. Thanks again for reading, and we hope you stick around!
Yay Flippin’! I’m sure I’ll try reading through all of them to find where I first started commenting regularly! Because I’m a dork!
I forgot to check where you started, and by the time I realized it, you were leaving book-length comments and I didn’t feel like going back through them!!!! 🙂
