Celebrating the Unpopular Arts

Because Cthulhu, that’s why!

Man, it seems like posting alerts to Kickstarter campaigns is becoming my thing. But this will be brief. I just wanted to give signal boost to another Kickstarter campaign for a new comic called Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam.

Oh yeah, baby!

Here’s the blurb from the campaign site:

July, 1944. As the war rages in Europe, a doomsday cult secretly works to summon the legendary elder evil known as the dread Cthulhu. With the utter annihilation of Earth at hand, only one person can protect our freedom and save humanity: Uncle Sam!

The main creative team consists of artist Jay Piscopo and writer Scott Harris-King. Harris-King is, among other  things, a regular over at the Classic Comics Forum, which is why I’m familiar with this campaign. And this is already his fourth campaign, by the way, as in the past he’s successfully funded three issues of a comic called The Crimebusters, which he both writes and illustrates. (Those, by the way, tell the further adventures of the Charles Biro character Chuck Chandler, the Crimebuster, which ran in Lev Gleason’s Boy Comics back in the 1940s and early 1950s.)

I always like to give a shout-out to independent creators producing cool stuff, and this one looks like it’ll be a lot of fun – and, I think, right up the alley of most of the people who frequent this site.

And remember, “Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn.” Just don’t wake him up…
