I imagine most of the people nerdy enough to read these blog posts know that back in the 1970s,, DC and Marvel comics included Hostess snack ads — Twinkies, cupcakes, fruit pies —with each companiy’s superheroes playing roles. Batman thwarts the Penguin’s scheme to steal all the Twinkies in Gotham City. Spider-Man battles Demolition Derby and his unstoppable hat.
This one, with Iron Man battling the “philosophically sinister” Kwirkegaard, might be my favorite.

That brings back memories, I had my 1st Twinkie about age 11 when I was living Trinidad (we never had them in the UK back then) I was fortunate enough to never have another one. Those things were bloody awful
I loved Hostess fruit pies. IIRC I liked the cupcakes and disliked the Twinkies but i can’t swear to it.
