Yes, in 1975 it was actually possible to get ALL the Trek paperbacks out there without going bankrupt. There were the eleven James Blish volumes adapting the original series episodes and his novel SPOCK MUST DIE!, the five Alan Dean Foster Logs adapting the animated series, David Gerrold’s two books about the show, and Stephen E. Whitfield’s THE MAKING OF STAR TREK. Twenty in all. It was a simpler time. It would have blown my thirteen-year-old mind back then to know that decades later I’d be sharing an art studio with the woman who painted that LOG FIVE background, Barbara Benedetto.
