Byron Preiss Visual Publications, especially, kept trying to re-invent the wheel. Here’s EMPIRE from Delany and Chaykin, a graphic novel that seems obsessed with the idea of not looking like a comic book at all. Because graphic novels are SERIOUS. It is a lovely book though.
