Do they still sell song books? Back in that era lots of us practiced plucking guitar to popular tunes — though not me, I was musically useless.
I’ve never heard of the song “Leatherwing Bat” but I’ve bookmarked the video on YouTube to watch later.
As I’ve mentioned before, model-building was a thing in the 1960s —
— and during the decade they expanded beyond Universal horror films and cool cars.
With man walking on the moon in 1969, it’s no surprise the space race generated its own model mania.
A special team of designers? Wow!
Model cars, though, were still around.
And if some bully tried stealing your kit, no problem — defend yourself with ketsugo!
I was surprised when I researched it to learn that ketsugo is a real thing. Though I have my doubts that had I ordered this book, I would have become “unbeatable in the art of unarmed self-defense.”
As a general aside, I have to say that I love the ads in comics – and usually the older the comic, the better. They’re fascinating little time capsules, and occasionally quite entertaining.
The same goes for magazine ads; once, in college, I was doing research for a paper that involved looking for articles in bound volumes of Time, Newsweek and National Geographic from the 1930s. I ended spent most of my time just reading at the ads…
I’ve had similar reactions to Time magazine ads from the 1960s. I used to read the old issues at my local library.
