Atomic Roundtable: Who IS Doctor Strange, Anyway?

The latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will open on Friday November 4; Doctor Strange, Master of the Mystic Arts, Sorcerer Supreme and wielder of both the Eye of Agamotto and the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, brings magic to the previously science-based world of Marvel movies. My favorite thing about Strange is the idea that he’s the guy in the guard tower. He is the one that keeps Earth safe from all the weird psychedelic hell-demons trying to infiltrate our reality and do Bad Stuff. The strip really cooks when it’s about the clash between our normal everyday world and the nameless things lurking in the next dimension over.

Star Trek Boldly Goes To… Ticonderoga, New York?

I’m a second generation of Trek fan, one of the ones who first saw it in syndication in the 70s. Even today, I’m still an Original Series fan first and foremost. Which is why I’ve been celebrating all year. And this past Saturday, I decided to top off my 2016 Trek celebrations by taking a road trip to see Star Trek: The Original Series Set Tour. These sets were originally built for the fan film series ‘Star Trek: New Voyages’ (later known as Phase II) by TOS superfan James Cawley.

Drew Struzan Makes Any Movie Better

Drew Struzan began his career as an advertising illustrator before finally becoming the most distinctive and acclaimed illustrator of movie posters, best known for his work on the Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter franchises.
